STUDENT LEVELS

Primary
(3-6 year olds)

Primary Level students are able to participate in introductory play-based classes.
Our class levels format provides pathways for our students to progress within our mixed-level classes. We are able to meet students where they are, while providing opportunities for them to engage in a holistic curriculum. See the levels overview at the top of the page to see where the Primary Level fits in.

Level readiness:
  • No prior experience is required.

Classes for Primary Level Students:
  • FUNdamentals: Saturdays 9:00-10:00

Level 1
(must be 7 years old by 12/31 or 6 year olds placed by assessment)

Level 1 students are able to participate in elementary training of individual genres.
Our class levels format provides pathways for our students to progress within our mixed-level classes. We are able to meet students where they are, while providing opportunities for them to engage in a holistic curriculum. See the levels overview at the top of the page to see where the Level 1 fits in.

Level readiness:
  • Returning students progressed from Primary Level
  • New students age 7-10 with any/no prior experience

Classes for Level 1 Students
Students must enroll in at least 2 Foundations classes. Either both on the same day or a combination of the Wednesday and Saturday classes.
  • Ballet Foundations: Saturdays 10:15-11:00
  • Modern Foundations: Saturdays 11:00-11:45
  • Jazz Foundations: Wednesdays 4:30-5:15
  • Tap Foundations: Wednesdays 5:15-6

Level 2
(must be 11 years old by 12/31 or 9-10 year olds placed by assessment)

Level 2 students are able to grasp formal dance training with sustained, multi-part combinations.
Our class levels format provides pathways for our students to progress within our mixed-level classes. We are able to meet students where they are, while providing opportunities for them to engage in a holistic curriculum. Level readiness:
  • Returning students progressed from Level 1
  • New students age 9-10 placed by assessment
  • New students age 11+ with any/no prior experience

Classes for Level 2 Students
It is recommended that Level 2 students take at least 2 classes per week, preferably on multiple days.
  • Intermediate Ballet: Tuesdays 6:00-7:30
  • Pre-Pointe: Tuesdays 7:30-8:00
  • Open Jazz: Wednesdays 6-7
  • Open Tap: Wednesdays 7-8
  • Intermediate Modern: Thursdays 6:00-7:30
  • Modern Repertory: Thursdays 7:30-8:00, class ends at 8:30 in October and November for 11+
  • Technique Workshop: Saturdays 12:00-1:30 (This class includes aspects of modern,  ballet,  and anatomy  and is designed to support the ballet and modern curricula. Students work on technique throughout the entire year, and it does not have a performance piece associated with it.)
Bonus Offerings for Level 2 Students
  • Enrichment: Thursdays 7:30-8:30 (Oct & Nov)
  • Honors Society: Wednesdays 8:00-8:30 (1x/month)

Level 3

Level 3 students are able to comprehend and execute intermediate/advanced dance skills.
Our class levels format provides pathways for our students to progress within our mixed-level classes. We are able to meet students where they are, while providing opportunities for them to engage in a holistic curriculum. Level readiness:
  • Returning students progressed from Level 2
  • New students age 11+ placed by assessment

Classes for Level 3 Students
It is recommended that Level 3 students take at least 3 classes per week.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Ballet: Tuesdays 6:00-7:30
  • Pre-Pointe: Tuesdays 7:30-8:00 (by evaluation)
  • Pointe: Tuesdays 7:30-8:00 (progressed from Pre-Pointe)
  • Open Jazz: Wednesdays 6-7
  • Open Tap: Wednesdays 7-8
  • Intermediate/Advanced Modern: Thursdays 6:00-7:30
  • Modern Repertory: Thursdays 7:30-8:00, class ends at 8:30 in October and November

Ensemble students are able to function maturely in professional settings and learn complex choreography.
Our class levels format provides pathways for our students to progress within our mixed-level classes. We are able to meet students where they are, while providing opportunities for them to engage in a holistic curriculum. See the levels overview at the top of the page to see where the Ensemble fits in.

Level Readiness:
  • Proficient with Level 3 material
  • Adept with Modern Repertory material
  • Interview with faculty that reflects student understands the responsibility and commitment
